I am one of those people that really likes writing poetry. One of the poems I’ve written is called dolphin. I thought it would be fun to put up a post on it. It’s about a girl looking at a water ornament in a water gallery.

Flowing out of the dolphins mouth
Traveling down, down and out.
As I stand here watching her
I think she will never reach the sea
Except in our dreams, her and me

Explain the universe

I’m lying on the couch with a headache. Why? you ask. Because of a very annoying thought. Yes a thought. A big fat lousy thought. You know. It’s that one that everyone has sometimes in their life. That on about the universe. The universe is big.Very big but what comes after it? Nothing. But how can that be? There has to be something. Maybe it goes on forever. But there has to be something else. The universe is big. Very big. But what comes… Then I stop. Maybe if I think logically I’ll come out with an answer. Then it struck me. You know those makeshift Christmas decorations – the one that you get strips of paper and make a loop and another one through the first and another and another. Well I made one of those and looped the last loop through the first so they it made a sort of big loop out of lots of little loops. Then I go up to my parents and say “Look, I have explained the universe!” I run my hand around one of the loops. “This is a galaxy and my finger is a space ship. The space ship goes around the galaxy and goes to another one. It goes In a circle through all the galaxies. It has gone around the universe. It could have gone elsewhere but it didn’t. You see, the universe is big but there might be something else out there. Because of these days technology, no one can get there.

I know saying I’ve explained the universe sounds a little bit too grand, but who cares. I don’t.

I still have the paper chain I used and I’m going to keep it.

Maddigan’s quest

Maddigan’s Quest is a book I’m reading. It’s about a girl called Garland Maddigan that belongs in a group of performers called Fantasia. They go through the world mending it with their skills of performance , after the Chaos ripped the world apart. Along the way three children appear and join the Fantasia. Garland is suspicious because two strangers in black follow the children wherever they go. Under the command of their master, the Nenog (a very strange name) they bring much trouble to the fantasia.

Its a very strange yet exciting book because there’s lots going on and it’s never ending.

I like Garland because she’s a lot like me. Sometimes she has crazy thoughts but she keeps them to herself because she feels they’re her private property. She likes being near other people but sometimes she wants to be her own too.

It’s 493 pages long and the Author is Margaret Mahy. It was published in 2006.
