I’ve made up another one of my many poems. This one is for a school task and is about the Victorian bushfires.

They are gone

Oh they are gone

And I am weeping

All alone

My family home

Is burned to the ground

My mother’s photo

Is all I found

But my family

What of them?

Are they safe?

A siren in the distance

An ambulance

But too late

They are gone

Oh they are gone

And I am weeping

All alone

I know it’s very depressing but it’s about the Victorian bushfires. It had to be depressing.

Super secret fruit salad

On my mothers blog, she often puts in recipes. So I decided to put my Super Secret Fruit Salad on my blog. (sorry, no photos)

Ingredients:

milk (however much needed)
fruit (whatever type of fruit you favour)
Sharp knife
Bowl/s

Method:

1. Cut fruit into bite-sized pieces

2. Put into bowl/s and mix

3. Add milk (about as much as you would have with a bowl of cereal)

4. Mix until fruit is coated with milk

5. Put in a spoon and enjoy

For a tart fruit salad, use lemon juice instead of milk

This is a recipe that is good for if you have kids and you can get them to make you breakfast in bed.

Bird

One of my many poems is called bird. It’s about someone looking out there window.

I looked out my window and what did I see?

A little bird, looking for tea

Maybe a little worm today?

Then I hear that little bird say

“Tweet tweet, tweet tweet

I found something to eat”

My cat likes to sleep in boxes

Today, while I was making a library in the front room of our house, I just so happened to look out into the next room, and there was the cat. The odd thing? She was sleeping. The odd thing about sleeping? She was in a box that was far too small for her.

This reminds me of a picture book I have read many times called ‘my cat likes to sleep in boxes’

I am a bit shocked at how she managed to get in, why she got in, and why was my box in the middle of the room?

I wish I had a normal pet like all the kids in my class.

new camera

Recently, my dad gave me a camera (he had an iphone with a camera so he had no need for his old one) and I took photos of anything and everything. For example…

Flowers…

Toys…

Patterns…

and even photos of paintings…

So it’s easy to see I went a bit overboard with my new camera. But I don’t really care. It’s just fun. Maybe I could take a photo of a book and then read it on the screen of my camera… Thinking, thinking.

Phone wars

For a while my dad has been away on a business trip. When he first called us I made special effort to get the phone first. Because of this my mum gave the phone to… little sister one. As a result, I started jumping up and down with anger (as a joke) little sister one took great pleasure in this. When she had finished I held out my hand. She handed the phone to…little sister two. This resulted in more jumping up and down until I got the phone. I had my conversation with dad and then handed the phone to mum. I spent the rest of the afternoon chasing after little sister one.

Now, whenever dad calls us I try and get the phone. so does little sister one. If I get it then I always hand it to little sister two rather that let little sister one get to it. She does exactly the same.

Now there is a phone war between us. The battle lines are as good as marked in the carpet.

You Didn’t

You didn’t see the owls eyes

You didn’t hear the babies cries

You didn’t taste the warm milk

You didn’t feel the softest silk

You didn’t smell the salty sea

You didn’t fly with the bee

You didn’t run the last mile

You didn’t make the loving smile

There are so many things you didn’t do

So make a start

Swan

One of the poems I’ve done I entered in a competition. I called it Swan. It’s about a swan that comes down to the water at night, then goes away with the moon in the day.

As the swan sails over the moonlit lake
she creates a landscape of white
with her beauty behold she has nothing to take
and she lifts her head in proud grace
but dawn is coming and she must fly
far away beside the moon
in the moonlit river off the sky
tomorrow midnight she may come again
and sail along in the ripples
but until then, we must wait
for the swan to come again

Mouse wind

One of the poems I composed is called Mouse Wind. I did it in grade 3. It goes like this:

The wind is like a little mouse

scurrying to its little house

it goes high, it goes low

it goes everywhere it could go

could it be above our heads?

could it be below our beds?

it blows around in the night

flying up high like a kite

maybe it will come again

how ’bout tomorrow at half past ten?

Dragon Rider

One of the books I’ve read lately is called Dragon Rider. It is about a dragon that’s traveling across the world in search of a place called the rim of heaven. They are going in search of this place because humans are coming to make the valley that the group of dragons has always lived in part of a city. Along the way Firedrake (that’s the name of the dragon) and Sorrel (his brownie companion) meet a human child that joins them on their quest. Along the way they meet new friends but unfortunately for them also new enemies.

I like it because it is exciting and adventurous. There is always something happening.

My favourite character is Firedrake because he is good without being a goody-good.

Dragon Rider is by Cornelia Funke and it is 527 pages long (not including the puzzles at the end).

It was a really good book and I highly recommend it (even for adults).
